2.  Minutes of last meeting:

3. Matters arising

Flora, the UNISON rep at CnES has been invited to a branch meeting and AGM. 

MM to contact Ken at the Inverness office.

PAIAW individual assessments are being done very slowly by a member of the Finance department and it will be any months before all staff receive their correct remuneration.

5. Secretary’s Report:

MM listed herself and Jane Montgomery to attend the Health Conference in Liverpool in April. 


6. Welfare:

Kath Mace will be retiring from Western Isles Hospital in July so will be stepping down from her role as Welfare Officer.


7: Health and Safety:

It was recommended that Chris Ann Munro train as a H&S rep, the training session is in August.


8. Organising Steward training may be held on the island if there is enough demand. All were asked to think about potential recruits.


9. Communication

JTM has set up a Facebook page: UNISON Western Isles Health Branch, with her and Jane as Admins, and asked for more, Gillian to be added. This can help with the recruitment drive, and can be updated regularly including an activists list. JTM to update the websites.


10: Attendance at conferences etc.

In addition to the Health Conference to be held in Liverpool, there is the Policy Forum in February, March and April to be held in Dundee; this is a heavy commitment. 

RG volunteered to attend the National Delegate Conference in Brighton in June, the other attendee has to be female to meet the requirements.

Folders were available for Nursing members at the last Health Committee, MM to find out more about content and cost.


11. AOCB:

The forthcoming AGM was provisionally arranged for Wednesday 22nd March, GM to contact Inverness. It is compulsory that posters are distributed at least seven days in advance.

The problems of having enough staffside reps was discussed especially as some members of staff are in such severely understaffed departments that they simply cannot get away for meetings.
